May 23 Linen Pinboard DIY

I love having an Inspiration Board in my home - I pin things that inspire me or mementos from trips. For my Green Room home office, I decided to make a Linen Pinboard that matched the paint on the walls (which is Clary Sage by Sherwin Williams, for those who are curious). The project took me less than an hour to make and less than ten minutes to hang on the wall. And I love how it turned out!

Follow along for step by step instructions to make your own Linen Pinboard.

Materials:

Framed cork board
Quilt batting
Staple gun + staples
Linen sheet
Fabric scissors
Electric drill + wall anchors/screws
Level
Gold push pins

Step 1:

Use your fabric scissors to cut the quilt batting to size. It should be about 2 inches longer on each side of the frame cork board.

Step 2:

Attach the quilt batting to the back of the framed cork board using your staple gun and a generous amount of staples. Be sure to pull the batting tight so there are no wrinkles on the front of the cork board.

Step 3:

Cut the linen sheet to size (again, about 2 inches longer on each side of the framed cork board). Repeat the stapling process used for the quilt batting. Linen stretches quite easily so be careful to pull out all the wrinkles before securely attaching to the framed cork board.

Step 4:

Hang your Linen Pinboard to the wall using an electric drill, wall anchors + screws, adding in a level to ensure a straight hanging board. Most framed cork boards come with hanging hardware that just snap into place on the back of the board.

Gold push pins are an elevated way to display your mementos! I like the subtle shine contrasted with the linen material.

And that’s all folks! How crazy is the match between the sage green linen fabric and the paint color? Would you believe me if I told you that it was entirely a coincidence? I picked the paint color and then realized I had spare sheets that matched perfectly for this DIY project.

You could use any fabric for this inspiration board craft - just be sure it’s on the thiner side to ensure that the push pins can reach the cork underneath. Comment below if you have any questions!
